Plenty of Street and Dirt Bikes to Actually Ride
If you haven’t yet made plans to attend one of the upcoming International Motorcycle Shows Outdoors taking place across America this summer and fall, you really should. And bring your riding gear, as you will have a plethora of opportunities to sample the latest bikes from a multitude of motorcycle brands.
Harley-Davidson recently announced they will have their 2021 demo fleet present at every stop, joining an already exciting array of manufacturers that will be present. After a year of no shows in 2020, the IMS folks decided to shake up their show style by booking outdoor venues across the States for 2021. They were apparently working toward some form of outdoor convention options before Covid hit, but the year that was accelerated their ideas to action. Whatever challenges that has presented the IMS and vendors in planning and logistics, the result is a veritable goldmine for us enthusiasts, with incredible opportunities to actually ride the motorcycles presented, rather than merely straddle them in a climate-controlled convention center.

The opportunity to sample several bikes, one after another, brand by brand, is absolutely incredible. And bring your family and friends, even those who don’t ride but might be interested, as they will have opportunities to “dip a toe” in the moto waters with programs such as “Discover The Ride” with Zero Motorcycles, “Kids Zone” with Strider and All Kids Bike, “Ride With Us” by the Motorcycle Industry Council and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and even Harley-Davidson offering their “Invitation To Ride” training course at several locales. We’re looking forward to the return of the International Motorcycle Shows this year, and going Outdoors is a stroke of genius. To hop on a Harley CVO, then ride a Triumph Bonneville, followed by a Yamaha MT-07 for instance, is pretty unprecedented on this scale. If this format winds up being as popular as we think, expect to see the other notable brands (Honda, BMW, MV Agusta, Ducati, etc.) joining in the joy in upcoming years. We plan to attend several of these ourselves, so if you see a Road Dirt shirt on anyone at an event, please say hello.

Superb coverage again on an event that I didn’t even know about. Thanks so much Rob and your efforts on motorcycling enthusiasts. Writing to you from Wenatchee Washington and remembering and reminiscing often times about your ride out here with Ted Edwards one of your great contributing feature writers hope to see you out here again.
Thank you, Milt! It was a pleasure meeting you briefly last year when I came out to ride with Ted and crew. We love Ted, such a huge part of the Road Dirt family.
Hope to see you next year,
