Our Photographer Captured the Dirt-Level Action
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series roared into Atlanta’s massive Mercedes-Benz Stadium this past weekend, and Road Dirt contributing photographer Brandon Johnson got trackside for all the gritty (literally) action. Brandon is a veteran photographer of NHRA Drag Racing, specifically Motorcycle Drags (check out his work here), so we thought he should try his deft hand and sharp eye at Supercross.
He did not disappoint.
Ken Roczen took his third 450SX class win at this, the midpoint of the 2020 season, in the cavernous arena in front of 59,743 race fans. Team Honda’s Roczen ran away with the race right from the holeshot, and now has drawn up to a points tie with Team Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac in the race series.
The racing was predictably intense, and Brandon worked to capture the stress and strain of the competition out in the dirt.
In the 250SX class, GEICO Honda racer Chase Sexton took a hard fought victory, battling Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire and Yamaha Racing’s Shane McElrath to the checkered and the flames.
But for us, Brandon captured the intensity of the riders on track, as well as some great behind-the-scenes images as well. We love the up close and personal nature of these shots. Each one tells a story.
This illustrates our mantra, “RIDE LIFE” at it’s best.
Fantastic handiwork, Brandon!
