Two legends partner in the ultimate prize for a great cause

“So lay down a back beat,
And crank up your trusty Gibson, son.”
“Georgia Rhythm”, Atlanta Rhythm Section

Music and motorcycles. They just fit together, like crimson and clover. Like Jack and Diane. Bikers love great music, and many musicians love the freedom of riding motorcycles. Think Elvis to Keith Urban. From the Mods and Rockers of London, to the “Easy Riders” and biker clubs across the States, music and motorcycling have always been, and always will be, inseparable.

Legendary brands team up for the ultimate prize package: Triumph and Gibson.

Triumph announced a unique partnership this week with Gibson Guitars to offer a grand prize in this year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a worldwide event held on a certain date in every time zone to raise funds for the Movember Foundation. Triumph has built a custom T120 Bonneville, and Gibson has created a matching Les Paul Standard Reissue 1959 Legends electric guitar, both of which will go to the DGR highest fundraising winner.

The originals- a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, and a 1959 Triumph Bonneville T120.

We’ve shared the story of the now landmark Triumph Bonneville, first debuted in 1959 to commemorate Triumph’s achievements at the Bonneville Salt Flats, and now Gibson has fashioned this beautiful Les Paul after their historic 1959 Standard edition. Winner will take all.

From Triumph: “Building on a shared passion for beauty, precision and performance, and inspired by the shared historical significance of the iconic 1959 Les Paul Standard and equally iconic 1959 Bonneville T120, the outcome of this unique partnership is a stunning one-of-a-kind custom edition of today’s generation of each legendary model.”

The Commemorative Editions.

Created to support The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in its global charity efforts for men’s mental health, prostate cancer awareness and fundraising, both the 1959 Legends custom edition Les Paul Standard Reissue and the Bonneville T120 feature a host of beautiful hand-detailed custom touches, designed and applied in Triumph’s factory workshop. Together, these will be offered as the highest fundraiser reward for the 2022 ride.

This unique prize package comes complete with a personalized “1959 Legends Editions” certificate of authenticity, signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and Cesar Gueikian, Brand President of Gibson Brands.

Triumph Bonneville T120 1959 Legends Edition.

We love the color matching job of these two beautiful pieces, and the sewn-in guitar pick pockets in the brown Bonneville seat just knocks us out. The T120 also features a unique custom paint scheme to match the sunburst finish of the Gibson, featuring a Jet Black painted guitar neck and headstock design on the top of the tank, edged with hand-painted coach lining. The tank, side covers and front fender also sport gold metallic “Triumph Gibson 1959 Legends” badges, and the fuel filler cap and alternator cover each carry a laser-etched badge as well. This motorbike is striking.

The Gibson Les Paul 1959 Standard Reissue.

The Gibson Les Paul 1959 Standard Reissue is equally stunning. The guitar has a Triumph-matching Jet Black scratch plate with hand-painted coach lining to celebrate the signature machined engine cooling fins of the classic Bonneville T120. There’s a Triumph logo laser-etched into the lower pickup cover and a low-profile metallic gold Triumph badge applied to the headstock. On the guitar back, a beautiful cast, painted and hand-finished Reissue switch backplate is featured, with the “Triumph Gibson 1959 Legends” partnership logo designed to match the Bonneville T120 alternator cover badge design. Very nice touch.

Personalized craftsmanship in both models.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has partnered with Triumph for nine years now, and the global benefit ride annually sees over 100,000 riders from some 900 cities take to the roads in support of men’s mental health and prostate cancer research. To date, the annual ride has raised nearly 32 million (USD) for the Movember Foundation, in support and awareness of these issues. And every year, Triumph gives away a custom motorcycle and other prizes to the highest fundraisers. We’ve participated in several of these rides over the years, and always enjoy the unique event.
