Record Crowds At Road America
by Road Dirt Crew | Jun 2, 2025 | Industry & Racing | 0 |
The famous Road America race course saw its largest ever attended motorcycle racing audience over the weekend, with the MotoAmerica series roaring into Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The weather was perfect, the track conditions were ideal, and the crowds came from near and far, filling the stands, the campgrounds, and along the fences around this legendary track. Here’s what is most important about the Slingshot: I’m grateful that there is a company out there THAT MAKES A VEHICLE LIKE THIS TODAY. I used to say that about Chrysler cars, with their incredible (if unnecessary) horsepower. And about Ford, and Chevy too, who made several performance models for everyday prices. But they don’t anymore. This isn’t a car, it isn’t a motorcycle, IT’S A FUN MACHINE. It’s loud, brash, unrefined, raw and industrial. It’s a bare knuckle, in your face roadster, and Polaris makes no attempt to apologize for it. It’s a vehicle that begs to be driven it like you stole it, every time you take it out. You have to drive this car, not be driven by it.

Our first contact with the Throttlestop Museum in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin came several years ago while Dean Phelps was shooting the MotoAmerica races at nearby Road America. Dean found Throttlestop to be a full-blown museum, restoration center, and auction house for exotic motorcycles, automobiles, and high-performance engines.

Steve and Karen Groth, Road Dirt contributing photographers, made the trek to “America’s National Park of Speed” for the weekend of motorcycle racing, and captured some outstanding shots across a thrilling two days. Superbike and King of the Baggers saw some outstanding on-track battles and long-overdue podium finishers, so we thought we’d share a few of their favorite shots from Saturday and Sunday.
