Honda’s Sport Tourer

Honda giveth, and Honda taketh away.

With the departure of the wonderful Rebel 1100, Honda decided to fill the vacancy in Road Dirt’s Pacific Northwest Headquarters with their sport touring offering, the NT1100.  The curious bit is that the NT1100 and the Rebel 1100 share the same parallel twin engine and DCT transmission but their purposes are polar opposites.  Whereas the Rebel is the inviting cruiser, the NT1100 is the tall, high seat ride with touring intent and sporty features designed to make you thirst for the horizon.

We will see about that.

Being a big mileage tourer with my share of track time, I am the target audience for this bike.  However, I am finicky about my touring partners and am specific on how they must behave if I am going to live life on them for weeks at a time.  I know exactly what I want from a long term touring motorcycle and plan on testing the touring intent and sport capability of the NT to the edge.  It will see slogging heat, freezing cold, driving rain and massive mileage days in this country and others.  It will do stripped down twisty mountain sprints, high speed sweeping shenanigans and fully loaded two up freeway slabbing.  I might even wash it afterwards.  Maybe.
