The Brothers Bauman & A Kid Called Dallas
Road Dirt contributing photographer Dean Phelps was on hand to snap all the race action at this past weekend’s 73rd annual Peoria TT in Illinois. Part flat track racing, part motocross, the Peoria TT is a unique and legendary race. Hosted by the Peoria Motorcycle Club, the TT has been held consecutively since 1947, the longest running dirt track race in the world.

Dean had opportunity to photograph around this fabled track across the weekend, and captured some amazing action we just had to share.
The AFT Twins class saw an epic “sibling rivalry” unfold between the brothers Bauman, Briar and Bronson, both astride Indian FTR 750s, with the elder Briar taking the checkered in the end. MotoAmerica 2018 Supersport champ J.D. Beach also showed his dirt prowess by taking a hotly contested third aboard his Estensen Racing Yamaha MT-07. 14-year Peoria TT winner (seriously!) Henry Wiles was forced to watch from the fences after undergoing surgery for a lower leg injury suffered less than two weeks ago at the Black Hills Half-Mile.
AFT Singles witnessed the stunning victory of AFT newcomer Dallas Daniels, as he worked his way from fifth to first, never giving up the lead once he snatched it from the leaders of the pack, 3-time Peoria winner Jesse Janisch, 2018 class champ Dan Bromley, and off-road legend Ryan Sipes. Daniels, who also claimed his first MotoAmerica road racing win this season in the Junior Cup class, dominated from lap 4 to the flag.
The next American Flat Track races will be across the Labor Day weekend, a triple-header at the Springfield Short Track on Friday, August 30, then the Springfield Mile races on Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1.
