Predictably Unpredictable: MotoAmerica at Road Atlanta

For years now, the MotoAmerica motorcycle road racing series has opened its season at Road Atlanta, with unpredictable, sketchy conditions always a possibility. This year‘s season opener was no different, with a hot and humid Friday for practicing and qualifying, followed by a near perfect day on Saturday with gentle breezes, partly cloudy skies and temps comfortably settling in the 70s, then Sunday brought a chilly rain and temperatures hovering in the low 50s.
The only thing predictable about our weather this time of year, is it’s unpredictability.

Through The Lens: Laguna Seca Look-Back

Laguna Seca is one of the most famous racetracks in the world. Built in 1957, the fabled track is just over 2 miles in length, with 180 ft of elevation change. Best known for the notorious “Corkscrew” tight turn near the top back of the track, it boasts a blind left crest at Turn 8 immediately followed by a hard right plunge down to Turn 8A in only 450 feet, with a drop of 5.5 stories in elevation. The whole track is insanely challenging, for automobiles and motorcycles alike.

MotoAmerica Brings The Heat To COTA

It was a hot one both on and off the track at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. With temperatures at 104 degrees on Thursday, 106 on Friday, 102 on Saturday, and 99 on Sunday, teams, riders, staff, and fans tried to keep cool while enjoying the action. Conditions were tough on the riders with a lot of sticky rubber laid down on the track.

Drag Racing A Suzuki Hayabusa

Suzuki Motor USA and Vance & Hines have a long history together of success in the world of motorcycle drag racing. Back in 1978 with the launch of Suzuki’s GS 1000, the motorcycle company partnered with Vance & Hines to manage their factory drag racing team, with racing programs in several sanctioning bodies and series. The partnership certainly seemed to have been “made in heaven”, as years of trophies and championships across the decades have attested.
