Beaubier Wins Sixth Superbike Title

If the 2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship could be summed up in just a few words this year, “dramatic and unpredictable” would be a pretty good description. And it certainly held true in the final races at New Jersey Motorsports Park over the weekend. The final race round held three Superbike races, and the three contenders for the title were within a few points of each other going into the weekend. Number 1 plate holder Josh Herrin held third place, still within striking distance of holding his title with 292 season points. 5-time national champion Cameron Beaubier held 306 points, and the surprising class leader entering NJMP was the scrappy outlier Bobby Fong with 314.
With 74 points up for grabs, the 2025 Superbike championship finish was anyone’s guess.

Through The Lens: The Fong Factor

September 26th-28th in New Jersey, one of these three talented riders will wear the number 1 plate next season. As the points currently stand, after 27 races, Bobby is in the lead with 314, Cameron second with 306, and Josh third with 292. It’s anyone’s guess who will claim the 2025 championship, with only three 20-lap races to go and 75 points up for grabs. Currently, Bobby has five 1st place finishes, Cameron has five, and Josh six. If somehow there is a tie in points, these stats become very important in determining who will clinch the Superbike title. Will the “Fong Factor” come into play in New Jersey?

MotoAmerica Hits The Brickyard

But the Superbike star for the weekend would have to be Bobby Fong of M4 ECSTAR Suzuki. After snatching the lead in race one on Saturday after Beaubier crashed out, Fong fought off Beaubier’s Attack Yamaha teammate Jake Gagne for the win. Then the Suzuki rider claimed the 2nd step in race two, and dominated race three after teammate Toni Elias crashed out in front of him, as did Jake Gagne behind him.

MotoAmerica Rides The Ridge

The Ridge Motorsports Park opened to the MotoAmerica road racing series this past weekend, a first for both. Teams rolled in early last week to familiarize themselves with the track, which only a handful of racers had ever ridden on. And it showed. Numerous riders crashed and crunched up their bikes, before even the first green flag on Saturday. The problem wasn’t so much the track itself, which the majority of racers and MotoAmerica personnel said they loved, but their unfamiliarity with it. At 2.47 miles in length, 16 dramatic turns and over 300 feet of elevation change across the track, including a 50 foot plunge down the Ridge Complex of switchbacks, a lap on the Ridge tarmac is filled with high speed straights, sweeping turns, huge compressions, weightless crests and hard esses that challenge and exhaust racers like few tracks in the States.
