King Kyle Crowned at Laguna Seca

Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle factory team rider Kyle Wyman won the 2021 MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers championship with a dominating performance at the Superbike Speedfest at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Aboard his #33 factory Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special, Wyman took the holeshot, set a new class lap record, and led every lap of the race on the 2.238-mile road course. Wyman beat second place Tyler O’Hara on the #29 S&S Cycle Indian Challenger by 4.388 seconds at the finish. Michael Barnes finished third on the #34 Hoban Brothers Racing DTF/Horsepower Inc./Darkhorse Crankworks Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special. Travis Wyman was fourth on the #10 Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle factory Road Glide Special.

Thrilling MotoAmerica 2021 Season Opener

For some years now, the MotoAmerica motorcycle road racing series has been exciting if somewhat predictable in several classes- Cameron Beaubier dominated Superbike, often in close contest with Toni Elias; Garrett Gerloff and JD Beach, then Richie Escalante and Sean Dylan Kelly, ruled the Supersport class; and in the past three years, we’ve grown accustomed to watching the young Rocco Landers destroy the competition first in Junior Cup, then Twins Cup.

MotoAmerica, Harley-Davidson, and King of the Baggers

MotoAmerica, the AMA and FIM sanctioned American motorcycle road racing series, introduced a one-off exhibition race last year at the fabled Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca track in October. Dubbed King of the Baggers, the spectacle was a resounding success with fans and race teams alike, and Road Dirt had our own Ryan Nolan on hand to experience the roar of open-throated, American V-Twin Baggers thundering around the course as well. Expanding on that for 2021, MotoAmerica decided to up the race to a three-round series, and opened the competition to all AMA license holders, with championship points being tallied at each race round, and a national champion being crowned at the end of MotoAm race season.
