One Million Strong

Triumph has a long illustrious history in motorcycling, however rocky their journey has been at times. From their initial launch back in 1902, the iconic motorcycle company has grown into a world leader in the field, weathered financial storms, and has emerged stronger than ever. They now prepare to celebrate two milestones- 120 years of manufacturing world-class motorcycles, and rolling out their one millionth machine since reorganizing and relaunching in 1990. The one-off, special edition Tiger 900 Rally Pro was unveiled at Triumph’s global headquarters in Hinckley, England by the company’s CEO, Nick Bloor, in the presence of the entire UK team. The choice of the Tiger 900 Rally Pro was the ideal bike to receive the honor, being such a versatile, all-terrain, do-everything motorcycle, truly representative of the brand’s history and capabilities.

Rockin To The Oldies

A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to wrench on an older bike, a 1969 Triumph T100. An acquaintance had asked if I could help him get it running again. He had told me the bike would kick over after some tickling and kicking (it’s still a full kick-start), but not stay running more than about 30-40 seconds. Night Rider

There is a group of motorcyclists in our area, known as the Night Riders, who enjoy carving up the country roads outside of town after sunset. I hear them many warm, spring-summer evenings, their sport bikes howling through the dark, engines revving, clicking up and down through the gears as they slice their way along the curvy blacktop that snakes around our north Georgia home. Sometimes I just stand outside and listen, trying to count how many there are, guessing which roads they are running- and occasionally, wishing I were riding with them.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Celebrates 10 Years

The worldwide Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is marking its 10th birthday in grand fashion this year, in spite of a continued international pandemic. As countries around the globe try to return to some semblance of normal while still fighting COVID, the DGR plans to renew their global campaign to bring “dapper riders” together to enjoy a day ride together and raise funds and awareness for men’s cancer and mental health causes, via the Movember Foundation.
