MotoAmerica rolled into the famed 4-mile racetrack known as Road America in Elkhart Lake over the weekend, with a full slate of exciting races across seven(!) classes on Saturday and Sunday. Mechanics revving the engines to listen for the crispness of their tuning and the buzz of riders, teams, and fans gathering before the race is electric. Circuit of the Americas (COTA) did not fail to disappoint all who gathered for this event April 8-10th, 2022. The following is our conversation that morning in the Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing tent.

There are many signs indicating the health of a national racing series, and two if which are (1) its top riders are invited to race in international series, and (2) international riders want to come race in that country’s national series. MotoAmerica has made incredible strides in both of these, with the likes of Garrett Gerloff, Cameron Beaubier, Sean Dylan Kelly, among others making the leap to the world stage in World SBK and MotoGP, and Toni Elias, Loris Baz, and now Danilo Petrucci joining the MotoAmerica paddock. American motorcycle road racing is alive and well again.
