Through the Lens: Kenny Roberts at Barber Vintage Fest

At this year’s 19th Annual Barber Vintage Fest, a new display was unveiled. Three-time Grand Prix World Champion Kenny Roberts and his son, Kenny Roberts Jr. were featured in a new exhibit at the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. Three historic bikes are now on display for motorcycle fans to enjoy their racing significance. Kenny Roberts, Grand Marshal at this year’s event, and his 1980 Yamaha YZR500 (OW48) along with Kenny Jr.’s 2000 Suzuki RGV500, and the 1998 Modena KR3 500 ridden by Kenny Jr. were prominently featured. The Barber Museum is a bucket list trip for anyone who loves any type of motorcycle.

Through The Lens: Hot Shoe Hall of Famers

In our previous installment, we shared some photos and highlights from our trip to the 2023 Hot Shoe Hall of Fame induction evening in Las Vegas. Gene Woods put on a wonderful ceremony at the Notoriety Theater in the Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience, and so many notables flew or drove in for the night that we decided to showcase some photos Geoff shot of these legends back in their heyday. Some are still involved in the sport, either supporting teams or racing in vintage events. It was a motorcycle racing star-studded night.

Wayne Rainey Rides Again

Our respect and admiration for Wayne Rainey went through the roof over this past weekend when we learned of his amazing feat at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, held yearly in Sussex, England. The three time 500cc Grand Prix world champion (1990-92) was reunited with his 1992 championship-winning YZR500, and in fact rode the historic machine multiple times around the famed Goodwood course over the festival weekend.

Through The Lens: Kenny Roberts

Kenny Roberts is a legend in American motorcycle racing. Born in Modesto, California in 1951, Kenny took to racing at a young age, quitting high school to compete in dirt track and going pro by the time he was 18. In 1978 Roberts became the first American to win a Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing world championship, now known as MotoGP. A two-time winner of the AMA Grand National Championship here stateside, Roberts is only one of four motorcycle racers in AMA history to take the coveted AMA Grand Slam, with wins in the mile, half-mile, short-track, TT Steeplechase and road racing.
