We at Road Dirt have always been fans of Indian Motorcycle’s Scout line since they re-introduced it a few years back. Long, low and lean, we were impressed from our first sampling of one when Placa throttled a Scout Bobber around Los Angeles for a month. Approachable and affordable for a wide range of motorcycle riders, the Indian Scout line has become among the brand’s most popular sellers in recent years. My friend Mike, a veteran motorcycle rider and retired motor police officer, traded his Harley tourer for a Scout and rode it around the south central Texas hill country last fall.

Harley-Davidson adds performance and factory-custom style to its 2022 motorcycle line with the reveal of eight new models, each powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 117, the most-powerful factory-installed engine offered by Harley-Davidson. New models include the Street Glide ST and Road Glide ST in the Grand American Touring line, the more powerful Low Rider S, and the new Low Rider ST Cruiser models, and four super-premium models from Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO).

Harley-Davidson revealed a portion of its 2022 motorcycle line and announced these bikes are arriving at authorized US Harley-Davidson dealerships starting now and at dealers around the world in the coming weeks, with additional new motorcycle models to be unveiled later this month. The limited-production 2022 models from Harley-Davidson® Custom Vehicle Operations™ (CVO™) and more new Harley-Davidson motorcycle models will be revealed during the “Further. Faster.” World Premiere Event on January 26 at 10 a.m. CST.

A Road Dirt reader messaged me over the weekend, asking, “What bikes do you guys hope to be able to ride this year?” I thought that to be a fine question, so I put it to several the Road Dirt fellas, asking them what bikes they’d really like to sample this year. I got some expected answers from a couple of them, as I know their tastes pretty well, but a few others surprised me. So I thought I’d share their faves with you. The list isn’t exhaustive, as each gave me more than one, but I decided to publish their top hopefuls for 2022, to invite discussion and dialogue among our readers. Its no secret at Road Dirt- we love classic motorcycles. Sure, sport bikes are thrilling, ADVs are fun in the dirt, and cruisers/tourers are the way to travel. But there’s something nostalgic about old motorcycles that still rev our hearts, and we always gravitate toward “modern classics” when brands design and offer them. Heck, I love my 2017 Triumph Bonneville 900 Street Cup, and when our friend Steven Kent of Law Tigers bought a 2018 Z900RS, we had to spend a day chasing each other around Georgia Lake Country on our retro-cool, slightly-larger-than middleweights.
