American Motorcycle Culture- Top States Study

To uncover where the passion runs deepest here in the U.S. of A., we recently came across an interesting study of the states with the most motorcycle registrations per capita. Compiled by motorcycle parts specialists Monster Fairings, the report analyzed some recent (2023) Federal Highway Administration motorcycle registration data, comparing both the total number of bikes on the road, and the total number of (known) bikes per capita. Examining over 8.7 million registrations nationwide, the study revealed which states are more saturated with motorcycle ownership and registration, which ones drive the biggest markets, and how geography, culture, and population shapes American’s moto passion.

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: Roadster Redefined

Riding west out of Milwaukee, we hit I-94 and lit out for Wisconsin’s historic Kettle Moraine Trail region. After navigating around then out of the city, we opened up the throttles of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 motorcycles and shot over to the passing lanes. Running up through the gears, I was once again amazed at the power the Sherpa 450 single can make, this time in a street-oriented roadster style motorbike. And I still had throttle left. “Geez, will this ‘do the ton’ if I stayed on it??” I wondered aloud.
Impressive.

Through all of that, one question kept coming to mind:Can the Shotgun 650 hold its own against classics like the Harley-Davidson Sportster, Indian Scout Sixty, or Triumph’s Bonneville Bobber?
At $7,100 brand new with a 3-year factory warranty, it just might.

Top Five Fave Bikes of 2024

Looking back over the year, several motorcycles stand out in our minds as bikes we really enjoyed riding and sampling. So here are our top five favorite motorcycles that we got to ride in 2024. We’ll review them in reverse order from fifth to first. We also have a couple of “honorable mentions” to toss in at the end. We must point out that there was not a bike we rode this year that we didn’t enjoy, so just because some don’t make the list doesn’t mean they are not great motorbikes. We just decided to drill down on a few of our faves.
