Indian’s New CEO Mike Kennedy: A True Biker

Following Indian Motorcycle’s recent split with Polaris, becoming a completely standalone motorcycle manufacturer again, the 125 year old legacy brand brought on Mike Kennedy as CEO to oversee operations. It’s refreshing to see a true motorcycle guy take the helm at Indian, especially given other manufacturer’s hiring of European shoe guys and pizza guys to run their operations. Kennedy is a true biker, a lifelong motorcycle rider, and a veteran in the powersports industry.

Bikes That Catch Our Eye for 2026

Every January, the motorcycle brands start debuting their new year models, with previews and “sneak peeks“ for the motorcycle media. Year after year, it kind of gets monotonous and boring- different colors, new paint schemes and patterns, some new tech in the electronics package, maybe a little tweak in the brakes, suspension or powerplant, and/or more farkles in the OEM accessory parts bin. But with this new deal, expected to close in early 2026, Indian Motorcycle is about to chart its own course as a standalone company.

This new addition to the Scout lineup is a powerful mid-sized cruiser, with a low center of gravity, nimble steering, and an improved suspension system. That list alone makes this one of the best Scouts I’ve ever ridden, but add to that comfortable ergonomics, a user-friendly dash, and eye-catching paintwork, and the 2025 Indian Scout 101 is a cruiser I’d not only recommend, but I’d seriously consider purchasing myself. With that said, as a motorcycle journalist I try to maintain an impartial opinion of the bikes I review, but every so often a motorcycle comes along that really resonates with me. The Scout 101 is one of those motorcycles.
