Willey came of age in the early 1900s, amidst World War I, the international flu pandemic of 1918, and the Great Depression. An avid pilot and motorcycle rider (clearly the adventurous type for his times), Willey saw a need among riders for quality accessories. He decided to start a company that would apply expert craftsmanship in manufacturing parts for use on motorbikes, and in 1937 he launched Nation’s Cycle Center in Maywood, Illinois, near metro Chicago.

We recently wrote about some motorcycles debuting this year that caught our eye. Some we hope to ride, others are what we categorized as, “unobtainium”. Either way, all are beautiful, and we love beautiful motorcycles. This latest offering from Ducati is another example, both historic-looking and drop-dead gorgeous, as well as out of reach for the majority of us proletariat. Nonetheless, it caught our eye, so we felt compelled to share a little bit about the Formula 73, as the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has dubbed it.

Have you ever experienced “imposter syndrome”? It’s that moment when you finally arrive somewhere you’ve dreamed of, and instead of certainty, it feels unreal. Your nerves are up, your heart’s racing, and anticipation sits heavy in your chest— the kind that only shows up when you’re stepping past what’s comfortable. It’s the same feeling as sweaty palms right before you throw a leg over a motorcycle you’ve never ridden. There’s an inner tension that holds two truths at once: I’m not sure I’m supposed to be here, and this is exactly where I’m supposed to be. You wonder if everyone else can tell you’re new, if you belong at all. Then, after a few conversations, a couple weeks of just doing the thing, it hits you— I am definitely supposed to be here.

Every January, the motorcycle brands start debuting their new year models, with previews and “sneak peeks“ for the motorcycle media. Year after year, it kind of gets monotonous and boring- different colors, new paint schemes and patterns, some new tech in the electronics package, maybe a little tweak in the brakes, suspension or powerplant, and/or more farkles in the OEM accessory parts bin. So many of the motorcycle media outlets feel the need to kiss up to the brands, running glowing previews of every detail of a “new” bike, even if the specs were the same as last year, just wearing a new colorway.
Same pablum and blather, different year…

It’s early in the new year, and motorcycle racing is already beginning. The annual Dakar Rally is now several days in, and here in the states, the Monster Energy Supercross World Championship series kicks off in Anaheim, CA this weekend. Among the contenders lining up at the starting gates will be another internationally known and respected brand in Ducati. Partnering with Red Bull and Troy Lee Designs, Ducati is betting the farm on having success in the dirt like they do in MotoGP, MotoAmerica, and other race series.

We recently caught a glimpse of a new model that Honda has been developing for production this coming year. This retro styled CB1000F arrested our attention, so we dug a little deeper. Unveiled back in the spring as a concept, it seems clear now the motorcycle will definitely be built and sold. Whether or not it will come stateside is anyone’s guess right now, however.

If the 2025 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship could be summed up in just a few words this year, “dramatic and unpredictable” would be a pretty good description. And it certainly held true in the final races at New Jersey Motorsports Park over the weekend. The final race round held three Superbike races, and the three contenders for the title were within a few points of each other going into the weekend. Number 1 plate holder Josh Herrin held third place, still within striking distance of holding his title with 292 season points. 5-time national champion Cameron Beaubier held 306 points, and the surprising class leader entering NJMP was the scrappy outlier Bobby Fong with 314.
With 74 points up for grabs, the 2025 Superbike championship finish was anyone’s guess.
