Bauman Catches Fire at Chicago Half-Mile

Early on, it looked as if Bauman was going to have to pull it out of his helmet if he were to end his winless streak on this night. A wild opening several minutes saw him repeatedly cross lines and swap positions as part of a energized five-rider lead pack that also included his brother Bronson Bauman (No. 37 Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City FTR750), Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance FTR750), Jarod Vanderkooi (No. 20 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750), and Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750).

GPI Pro Series Motorcycle Stands

I ordered the GP Pro Series stands from GPI Industries which set me back $249.99. GP Pro Series stands are mandrel bent from one piece of 1 3/8″ tubular carbon steel meaning no joints, no wobbly bolts holding them together and no major assembly, just attach the wheels and they are ready to use. A lifetime guarantee accompanies every stand but after looking over their one piece construction I can’t imagine where they would fail.

The 2021 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

The 10th-annual international Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride for men’s cancer and mental health was back on for 2021, having moved to Sunday, May 23 worldwide. I joined in on the Atlanta ride, among hundreds of like-minded and dapper-dressed men and women riders. A great ride, among great people, astride great motorcycles, for a great cause. And it was a perfect, beautifully sunny spring day in Georgia, USA. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Gagne Dominates at VIR

Gagne won his third straight MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike race on Sunday at VIRginia International Raceway, and he did so in impressive fashion. Again. On Saturday, Gagne won by a whopping 11.8 seconds. Sunday he stretched that gap to 13.9 seconds. As he did in race 1, Gagne snagged the holeshot into turn 1 and proceeded to lead every lap thereafter, crossing the finish line well clear of Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati New York’s Loris Baz, the Frenchman earning his first career MotoAmerica podium.

Legendary Bikes: “Captain America” Goes To Auction

I still remember the first time I viewed the movie, “Easy Rider”. The grand, sweeping scenery, the memorable soundtrack, and those motorcycles piloted by Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, absolutely captured my imagination. Riding through wide open spaces has since become a joy I’ve experienced myself many times over the years. For all of the movie’s faults and foibles, those two motorcycles took on personalities themselves in the minds of riders everywhere, as much as their riders did in the film. “Easy Rider” effectively captured the essence of the 1960s hippie culture, as well as it’s bitter end. The movie has since grown beyond cult-classic status to downright movie icon, at least in the motorcycling culture.
But whatever became of the famed “Captain America” bike in the film?

Crows For Eagles

My engine thrummed while birds circled overhead, teasing the Columbia River air with their wingtips.  Expert manipulators of space they moved with unconscious subtle gestures, altering their trajectory in anticipation of the next wind shift.  Like a road racer making minute course changes with a lowering of the head to the inside of a corner, these birds were masters of instinctual flight.  I assumed they were eagles.

Congress Moves On Motorcycle Safety

“Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month promotes rider safety, education, licensing, and awareness in order to decrease the number of crashes. Motorcycles help to reduce congestion, are fuel-efficient, and have little impact on transportation infrastructure. Motorcycle awareness is beneficial to everyone on the road.” We couldn’t agree more.
